The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has announced that its 144th Session will take place from March 19 to 21, 2025, in Costa Navarino, Greece, with the opening ceremony scheduled for March 18. Prior to the session, the IOC Executive Board will hold a meeting on March 17 to discuss key issues ahead of the main discussions.

One of the most significant topics on the agenda will be the election of the 10th IOC President, a historic moment that will shape the future of the organization governing the Olympic Movement.

A SYMBOLIC VENUE FOR A HISTORIC OLYMPIC MOMENT

The IOC Session and Executive Board meetings will take place at the House of Events, within the Romanos Resort, a luxury complex located in the Peloponnese region of Greece. This venue is part of the Costa Navarino Resort, which also includes the Westin Resort, where the IOC Session Media Centre will be located.

This event not only marks a new chapter in the governance of the IOC, but it also holds deep symbolic significance, as the opening ceremony will be held in Olympia, approximately 100 km away from Costa Navarino. Olympia, the birthplace of the ancient Olympic Games, will provide a historic backdrop for a session that will determine the next leader of the Olympic Movement.

PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION AND IOC AGENDA

The election of the 10th IOC President will be the focal point of the session. Since its foundation in 1894, the IOC has had only nine presidents, making this election a pivotal moment in the organization’s history.

Beyond the presidential election, the 144th IOC Session is expected to address other strategic issues, including the future of the Olympic Movement, the organization of upcoming Olympic Games, and the implementation of new global sports initiatives.
