Croatia’s Petar Klovar secured the gold medal in the Constant Weight No Fins (CNF) discipline on the second day of the 35th AIDA Freediving World Championship, held in the waters off Limassol. The current world record holder in CNF consolidated his dominance with an 88-meter dive, enough to claim the title without attempting to surpass his 103-meter record set in May 2025.

A total of 51 male athletes representing 27 countries competed on the day, including first-time entries from India and Singapore, underlining the global expansion of freediving as a competitive sport. The venue, located three miles off the Cypriot coast, offered favorable conditions with 27°C surface temperatures and a thermocline at 40 meters.

Many athletes opted for conservative depth announcements, a common strategy in CNF due to AIDA regulations, which impose sanctions and disqualifications in the event of loss of consciousness during recovery. With several disciplines still ahead on the schedule, risk management proved decisive.

Men’s CNF Podium

Klovar topped the standings ahead of Omar Al Ghailani from Oman, who secured the silver medal with a validated 76-meter dive. Laurence Paik of the USA completed the podium with a solid 75-meter performance. All three dives were awarded white cards by the judges following correct surface protocol execution.

These results reinforced the Croatian’s status as the leading figure in CNF, while the Omani athlete confirmed his country’s steady progress in competitive freediving.

National Records on Day Two

The session also saw the setting of seven national records: Alexandros Polemitis (Cyprus, 55 m), Jihoon Jang (Korea, 67 m), Tom Peled (Israel, 67 m), Martin Ruman (Slovakia, 65 m), Gonzalo Cortes Tavara (Peru, 60 m), Daniel Kwok (Singapore, 56 m) and Marcell Bago (Hungary, 60 m).

All championship sessions are being streamed live on the official AIDA Freediving YouTube channel, with full replays available after each competition day.
