FIBA 3×3 basketball once again took center stage on the international calendar with two major events. In Copenhagen, Lithuania secured its first-ever continental crown in the men’s category, while the Netherlands reaffirmed their dominance by winning women’s gold at the FIBA 3×3 Europe Cup 2025, adding it to their 2023 European title and this year’s FIBA 3×3 World Cup. Meanwhile, in Mongolia, Partizan (Serbia) claimed their first trophy of the season by winning the Sansar Challenger.
The men’s final in Copenhagen featured a Baltic clash between Lithuania and Latvia, ending 21-17. Ignas Vaitkus led his team with 8 points and a commanding physical display that earned him MVP honors. “We have worked hard to get here, and this gold means a lot to us,” said Vaitkus after lifting the trophy.
Italy secured a podium finish in their return to the competition since 2016, defeating Germany 22-15 thanks to a decisive performance from Raphael Gaspardo (13 points). The Team of the Tournament was headlined by Vaitkus and also included Nauris Miezis (Latvia) and Gaspardo.
Azerbaijan and Spain complete the women’s podium
In the women’s competition, the Netherlands added the European crown to their recent World Cup triumph. Noortje Driessen led the charge with 11 points in the final against Azerbaijan (21-16) and finished the tournament with a total of 49, underlining her status as one of the top players in international 3×3.
Driessen was named MVP and was joined in the Team of the Tournament by Arica Carter (Azerbaijan) and Sandra Ygueravide (Spain). Spain secured the bronze medal after defeating France 21-15, with Ygueravide contributing 8 points in the decisive clash.
Partizan reigns at the Sansar Challenger
In Sansar, Partizan returned to the spotlight after a difficult start to their World Tour campaign. The Serbian team claimed the title by defeating Miami (USA) 21-18 in the final, showcasing consistent performances throughout the knockout stages.
Stefan Milivojevic, known across the circuit as the ‘Gladiator’, delivered a decisive 9-point display in the semifinals and another standout performance in the final, earning MVP honors. “We never stopped believing in ourselves, and today we showed what we are capable of,” he stated after the victory.
Miami and Riffa secure World Tour Shanghai berths
Miami’s runner-up finish further confirmed their solid form, following a second-place result in Lausanne just weeks earlier. James Parrott and Mitch Hahn played crucial roles for the Americans, particularly in the tight semifinal against Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy, decided 17-16.
Alongside Partizan and Miami, Riffa (Bahrain) completed the trio of teams to qualify for the upcoming World Tour event in Shanghai, scheduled for late September, where many of the world’s top 3×3 teams will once again compete.
