Table tennis is set for an unprecedented season. The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) has unveiled the 2026 calendar, which not only promises a year full of high-level competitions but also marks a century since the sport’s official global inception. With events scheduled throughout all twelve months, the agenda reflects both the sport’s historical legacy and the ambitions of modern table tennis.
2026 will be a year of double celebration: it marks 100 years since the first World Championships held in London and the founding of the ITTF in 1926. In a nod to this milestone, the World Team Championships Finals will return to the British capital from April 28 to May 10, bringing together the sport’s top athletes at the very place where it all began. It will be a unique opportunity to connect the past and future in a truly historic event.
A calendar rich in history and full of challenges
The ITTF 2026 calendar includes key events that will shape the international season. The Continental Cups will kick off the year in February, followed by the World Cup for individuals in late March and the aforementioned World Team Championships Finals in April and May. June will see the return of the World Masters Championships, following the success of its 2024 edition in Rome, while October will bring the start of the Continental Championships. The season will conclude with the World Youth Championships and the Mixed Team World Cup between November and December. All these events will offer crucial points for the rankings and allow athletes to represent their countries on top-level stages.
In addition, the international circuit will be strengthened by the WTT Series, offering a broad range of tournaments throughout the year. The four Grand Smashes — in Singapore, the United States, Sweden, and China — will be the highlights, along with Champions, Star Contender, and Contender events. The demand to host these tournaments continues to rise: over 30 cities have submitted their bids, reflecting the sport’s global appeal. With elite players, passionate fans, and iconic venues, 2026 is set to be a year to remember in the history of table tennis.
