Volleyball continues to establish itself as a sport capable of uniting communities, generations, and cultures, and the recent signing of a memorandum of understanding by FIVB, together with the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC), and the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF), marks a significant step in this direction. This historic agreement aims to strengthen the development of volleyball and beach volleyball across the Southeast Asian region, enhancing its visibility, impact, and sustainability within a framework of international collaboration.

The ceremony, held during the FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship, brought together sports leaders and athletes from the national beach volleyball program of the Philippines, who showed their enthusiasm and support for the project. Key figures such as Fabio Azevedo, president of FIVB; Ramon Suzara, president of AVC; Patrick C. Gregorio, president of PSC; and José Donaldo Caringal, secretary general of PNVF, highlighted the importance of shared commitment to the future of volleyball in the region.

Youth Development and Opportunities for the Next Generation

The focus of the memorandum is on youth development, aiming to expand opportunities for young talents across Asia to grow and train in a competitive and supportive environment. Programs range from grassroots development to high-performance team preparation, including the promotion of beach volleyball, and encourage the participation of new athletes in each country involved. This approach not only nurtures local talent but also strengthens ties between nations, creating a collaborative ecosystem that inspires players and communities to dream big.

Each signatory organization will play a vital role: FIVB will lead international growth strategies, AVC will coordinate continental initiatives, PSC will facilitate athlete and coach development, and PNVF will oversee national implementation. By combining experience, resources, and shared vision, this agreement promises not only to improve volleyball quality but also to foster values of inclusion, cooperation, and solidarity among young athletes and coaches, leaving a lasting legacy in the region.

A Strategic Vision with Heart

This alliance aligns with FIVB’s 2032 Strategic Vision under the motto “Together as One” and reflects a commitment beyond sport: integrating communities, promoting peace, and generating positive social impact through athletics. By joining forces, the organizations aim to inspire the next generation of players, ensuring that volleyball continues to grow as an accessible sport, innovative and recognized worldwide.

More than a formal agreement, this memorandum symbolizes the passion and hope of those who believe in the transformative power of sport. Every event, every training session, and every match will be an opportunity for young people to discover their talent, build confidence, and experience the magic of volleyball. With this alliance, FIVB and its partners open a path of opportunities, growth, and shared dreams across the Southeast Asian region.
