FIVB boosts beach volleyball: an enhanced Beach Pro Tour for 2025

The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has announced major improvements to the Beach Pro Tour (BPT) in 2025, aligning with its Strategic Vision 2032. These changes aim to strengthen the global beach volleyball ecosystem, creating more opportunities for athletes and promoting greater sustainability for the sport.

The 2025 BPT promises to be bigger and more competitive than ever, with a significant increase in the number of participating teams and a boost in prize money. These enhancements reflect FIVB’s commitment to the growth and professionalization of beach volleyball worldwide.

In 2025, the number of teams in the BPT main draw will significantly increase in both the Elite and Challenge categories. The Elite category will expand from 16 to 24 teams per gender, while the Challenge category will grow from 24 to 32 teams per gender. This represents a 41% increase in playing opportunities, fostering greater competitiveness and talent development.

Additionally, FIVB’s investment will raise the total prize pool for beach volleyball competitions in 2025 to $6.75 million, including the World Championship and Elite and Challenge events. Within the Beach Pro Tour, prize money will rise from $5 million in 2024 to nearly $6 million in 2025, ensuring the attraction of elite talent and the long-term viability of a professional career in beach volleyball.
