Denmark has been chosen to host the European Badminton Championships in 2025 and the Thomas & Uber Cup in 2026 and the city of Horsens will host these prestigious championships, chosen following a meeting of the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

DENMARK AND BADMINTON
Sven Serre, President of Badminton Europe and its board of directors said they were delighted to have awarded Denmark the rights to the European Championships and added that “Denmark is a leading badminton nation with a passionate fan base and we look forward to fantastic support from the public”.
Recalling that Denmark hosted the 2023 World Championships in Copenhagen, Serre said they are confident that this will be a hugely successful event.
THOMAS & UBER CUP
The Thomas Cup is the most important international badminton competition in terms of men’s team competition. It is the tennis equivalent of the Davis Cup and its women’s version is the Uber Cup.
In its 75-year history, this will be the fourth time it will be held in Europe after also taking place in Denmark in 2021. Kristian Pihl, President of the Danish Badminton Federation commented that “we are excited about the award of the two championships”, adding that “these events align perfectly with our long-term goals of bringing more badminton championships to Denmark, following the World Championships in Copenhagen and the Danish Open in Odense”.
Denmark has already hosted European Championships, in 1996 and 2008 and the most recent edition was in Kolding in 2017. Danish badminton players have yet to claim victory at the Uber Cup but Danish players claimed victory at the Thomas Cup in 2016.
Tickets for the European Badminton Championships will be available at the start of the Danish Open from 15-20 October this year.
