The Badminton World Federation (BWF) and the World Academy of Sport (WAoS) have launched a new scholarship cycle for the WAoS Athlete Certificate program. This online course is designed for young athletes between the ages of 15 and 18 who are looking to gain a broader understanding of the tools needed to become successful and knowledgeable athletes.

Since its inception in 2020, a total of 623 young athletes (362 boys and 261 girls) from 80 countries have benefited from this scholarship, demonstrating the global impact of this initiative.

100 SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE PER ASSOCIATION

In the 2025 cycle, the BWF and WAoS will offer 100 scholarships per Member Association to access this online course. The course content has been developed by experts who work regularly with athletes and overseen by a reference group composed of representatives from several International Federations, including the BWF. The course is approximately 4.5 hours in length and is designed to be accessible and practical for young athletes.

To be eligible, applicants must be in good standing with their National Badminton Federation. In addition, the BWF will ensure a gender balance in the applicant selection process.

RESULTS OF APPLICATIONS IN MAY

Successful applicants will receive a full scholarship that will allow them to participate in the program at no cost. The BWF will notify both National Badminton Federations and applicants of the outcome of their applications before the end of May.

This program represents a unique opportunity for young athletes to develop key skills and broaden their knowledge, preparing them to meet the challenges of high performance sport.
