Swiss side Lugano claimed their maiden FIBA 3×3 World Tour title after edging Miami 21-20 in a thrilling final at the Wynn Palace in Macau. The team from Switzerland secured their first triumph on the global circuit thanks to a standout performance from Adris De León, whose decisive basket sealed the victory in the closing seconds.
The event in Macau gathered several of the season’s top contenders, including the dominant Ub, who have already captured six titles this year. Against that backdrop, Lugano’s success carries special weight, breaking into the elite group of seven different champions across the 14 stops of the 2025 World Tour and emerging as one of the standout stories of the season.
Lugano’s journey defined by overtime battles
Entering the Asian stop as a dark horse, Lugano delivered from day one. The Swiss squad completed a perfect pool phase, winning two overtime thrillers to advance to the quarter-finals as group leaders.
In the knockout stage, Lugano defeated Bordeaux in the quarter-finals and held off Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy in the semis before facing Miami for the title. The championship game remained tightly contested throughout, with the American side leading 20-17 before Lugano rallied late. A baseline jumper by De León sealed the 21-20 victory and the team’s first World Tour crown.

Adris De León shines as MVP
Veteran guard Adris De León led Lugano with 8 points, 4 highlights and two two-pointers, reaffirming his role as the team’s offensive anchor. Malik Hluchoweckyj added 9 points and two key assists in a collective performance of high intensity, while Henry Caruso led Miami with 11 points in defeat.
For his leadership and clutch heroics, De León was named Most Valuable Player of the Macau Masters. The award was presented by Ms. Zoe Zhou, Chief Marketing Officer of Wynn Macau Limited, and Mr. Wu Chong Fai, President of the Macau-China Basketball Association, during an official post-event ceremony.
