Los Angeles 2028 Organizing Committee has confirmed the timeline for the ticketing process of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Registration will open in January 2026, with single-event tickets starting at $28. The early announcement of dates and pricing appears to be part of LA28’s strategy to help fans plan ahead and to consolidate the commercial framework of the event well in advance.
The procedure includes a mandatory registration phase, followed by a lottery that will assign purchase windows during the so-called “ticket drops.” For the Paralympic Games, ticket sales will begin in 2027.
Ticketing timeline for Los Angeles 2028
The schedule offers earlier notice than Paris 2024, where registration opened in November 2022. With this approach, the Committee seeks to ease planning for federations, national committees, and fans, as the Games return to the United States after more than three decades.
Ticketing will be managed by AXS and Eventim, LA28’s official ticketing service providers, while On Location will serve as the exclusive hospitality partner. Its programs will include tailored experiences with guaranteed accommodation, official transport, premium seating, and curated in-venue and out-of-venue options.
Comparison with previous editions
The $28 entry-level price for single-event tickets represents a new benchmark in accessibility compared to recent Games, according to ‘Los Angeles Times’. Communicating these details well in advance also appears to be part of a broader plan to encourage fans to plan with sufficient lead time.
By contrast, Paris 2024 offered opening ceremony tickets ranging from €90 to €2,700, while the Milan-Cortina 2026 Organizing Committee has set categories as high as €2,026 for its main events. Further details on session-specific pricing and ceremonies from the Los Angeles 2028 Committee are expected in the coming months.
Innovations in ticket access
One of the key innovations will be early access for residents in communities near Olympic venues, introducing a territorial element to ticket distribution.
Alongside individual tickets, official hospitality packages will be available starting in 2026, offering bundled ticketing options with added benefits. As Reynold Hoover, CEO of the Games, explained: “The LA28 Games will be an opportunity to purchase a ticket to history. Whether you’re a local family attending your first Olympic or Paralympic event or a global traveler joining us for a once-in-a-lifetime experience, there really will be something for everyone across our suite of ticket options and hospitality packages.”
The lottery system (“ticket draw”) will determine purchase windows, aiming to manage high demand and ensure greater equity in the ticket allocation process worldwide.
