The Local Organizing Committee of the World Race Walking Championship Brasilia 26 officially unveiled the event logo, highlighting the energy and colors of the host city. The initiative aims to reflect Brasília’s identity and emphasize its importance as the venue for a world-class athletics competition.
The logo design features some of the most iconic landmarks of the Brazilian capital, including the Metropolitan Cathedral, the National Congress building, and the Juscelino Kubitschek Bridge, all depicted in Brazil’s distinctive colors: green, yellow, and blue. According to the organizers, this symbol will help connect the athletic community and fans, reinforcing the anticipation for the event to be held in 2026.
Brasilia 26: a historic milestone for race walking
“It will be the first time a world race walking competition is held in Latin America,” said Wlamir Motta Campos, president of the Brazilian Athletics Federation (CBAt). Choosing Brasília as the host city not only highlights the sporting relevance of the capital but also celebrates the achievements of local athletes, such as Olympic silver medalist Caio Bonfim, a national icon who inspires future generations.
The World Race Walking Championship, organized by CBAt with the support of the Federal District government, will take place on April 12, 2026. This 31st edition will be the first in South America and the first major world athletics event in Brazil since the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. With more than 400 athletes expected from around 50 countries, the competition will award individual and team medals in six races: four for senior athletes (20 km and 35 km, men and women) and two for under-20 athletes (10 km, men and women), consolidating its tradition as one of the oldest events in the World Athletics Series.
