Ahead of the World Amateur Team Championship (WATC) 2025, the International Golf Federation (IGF) has announced the launch of a series of webinars focused on anti-doping, reinforcing its commitment to clean sport. In collaboration with the International Testing Agency (ITA), these sessions aim to strengthen the knowledge and responsibility of athletes, coaches, and support personnel regarding anti-doping rules and best practices.
The program includes two golf-specific webinars, along with an invitation to join a global series organized by the ITA. These initiatives are part of the IGF’s educational strategy, which has also released an updated version of its Anti-Doping Handbook, available on its website. Participation is free and open to the entire golfing community, in an effort to ensure that each WATC 2025 participant is ready to compete with integrity and transparency.
Education for a cleaner sport
The first webinar by the IGF will take place on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, and is aimed at coaches and agents. This session will cover the anti-doping control process, including how tests are conducted, athlete whereabouts requirements, and the active role that support personnel must play to ensure compliance with international regulations. The second session is scheduled for Tuesday, September 2, 2025, and will focus on athletes and their entourage. This seminar will provide information on the testing process, the Prohibited List, the use of TUEs (Therapeutic Use Exemptions), and risks related to medications and supplements, all supported by real-life scenarios.
Complementing these sport-specific sessions, the ITA has organized a global series of webinars open to all sports disciplines, to be held on August 27, September 3, and September 10, 2025. These sessions will offer a broader overview of international anti-doping principles and standards. Through these efforts, the IGF reaffirms its mission to foster a culture of integrity in golf, promoting education as the key tool to preserve the spirit of clean sport, both on and off the field of play.
