The Islamic Solidarity Sports Association –ISSA– and the Local Organizing Committee are celebrating 100 days to go until the start of the Riyadh 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games, which will take place from 7 to 21 November in the capital of Saudi Arabia.
In this sixth edition, around 3,500 athletes from 57 countries will compete across 23 sports, making the event a showcase of elite-level sport and cultural unity within the Islamic community, as well as a key driver for the development of sport in the Islamic world.
Return to Saudi Arabia after 20 years
Riyadh 2025 will mark the return of the Islamic Solidarity Games to Saudi Arabia two decades after hosting the inaugural edition. ISSA Secretary General Nasser Majali expressed his excitement: “With just 100 days to go, excitement is growing across our 57 members. This will be the home of inspiring sporting stories created by the athletes and a platform to showcase peace, diversity and our shared Islamic values.”
Majali emphasized that the Games represent “ISSA’s premier multi-sport event” and highlighted Riyadh’s role as a meeting point for the entire Islamic community in November.
Equality, inclusion and a comprehensive sports program
The confirmed program for Riyadh 2025 will feature 23 sports, including athletics, para athletics, 3×3 basketball, boxing, camel racing, duathlon, equestrian, esports, fencing, futsal, handball, judo, ju-jitsu, karate, muay thai, para powerlifting, swimming, taekwondo, table tennis, volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling and wushu.
The integration of two sports for athletes with disabilities and the equal number of events for men and women reinforce the event’s inclusive character and its commitment to diversity among ISSA’s 57 member countries.
The Games will be held across four venue clusters in Riyadh – Boulevard, the Olympic Complex, Al Janadriyah and Malaz – helping to reduce travel distances while making use of existing and temporary infrastructure to ensure the sustainability of the event.
