The Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) has announced a new partnership with Bluewater, a global leader in sustainable water purification and beverage solutions. Through this collaboration, Bluewater becomes ANOC’s Gold Partner in the lead-up to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, in a joint effort to eliminate single-use plastic bottles in the sporting environment and encourage responsible practices across the Olympic Movement.

This partnership strengthens both organizations’ commitment to sustainability, particularly regarding the empowerment of National Olympic Committees, athletes, and event organizers to adopt clean and safe hydration solutions. As part of the agreement, advanced systems for water purification will be implemented, along with refill stations and awareness campaigns focused on access to safe drinking water without plastic waste.

A model of sustainable collaboration on the road to LA 2028

The collaboration between ANOC and Bluewater translates into a series of concrete actions. These include the installation of water purification systems at the point of consumption during ANOC-organized events, as well as the implementation of refill stations at major international competitions. These measures aim to build trust in tap-purified water and highlight the environmental and health benefits of plastic-free hydration. In addition, Bluewater will have an active presence at ANOC events, showcasing its sustainable technologies.

Olympic champion Ellie Aldridge, Bluewater ambassador, will play a key role in promoting these initiatives, leading activities focused on clean hydration for athletes. Meanwhile, ANOC Secretary General Gunilla Lindberg emphasized the importance of this partnership in combating plastic waste, noting that Bluewater’s SuperiorOsmosis filtration system ensures hydration that is pure, safe, and doping-free. Bengt Rittri, founder and CEO of Bluewater, reaffirmed that this agreement shows how sport can be a driver of real-world solutions to global environmental challenges.
