Legendary Chilean tennis player Fernando González has been named official ambassador of the Junior Finals of the Davis Cup and the Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge, which will take place in Santiago, Chile from November 3 to 9, 2025. With three Olympic medals, a runner-up finish at the Australian Open, and an outstanding Davis Cup career, González embodies the team spirit and will be the face of an event that will bring together the best young tennis talents in the world under 16.

González’s appointment as ambassador marks a milestone moment for Chilean tennis, which will not only host the tournament for the second time in history but will also feature its national teams in both divisions. As host, Chile automatically qualifies for the finals, which will gather 16 countries per category and have served as a launching platform for stars like Carlos Alcaraz, Coco Gauff, and Rafael Nadal, who also once competed in this event.

A global celebration with a Chilean identity

González, a former Roland Garros junior semifinalist and champion of the tournament in 1998, understands the deep impact of these development events on young athletes. “It’s a true personal honor to be the ambassador of such an important event, especially with Chile as the host nation,” said the former world No. 5. Both the Chilean Tennis Federation and the ITF praised González as an example of professional dedication, professionalism, and passion for representing his country—values meant to inspire the next generation of players.

The Junior Finals return to South America for the first time since 2001, also in Santiago, when the Chilean boys’ team won its only Junior Davis Cup title. The 2025 edition promises to be a true sporting celebration, featuring delegations from the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Africa, qualified through regional tournaments. The competition will follow a group-stage format and a knockout phase. It will also be a unique opportunity to showcase the growth of Chilean youth tennis to the world, with a figure like Fernando González leading the charge.
