The FIBA 3×3 Basketball World Cup recently held in Mongolia not only dazzled with its on-court action but also shattered all records on social media and digital broadcast platforms. The event marked a milestone for urban basketball, with unprecedented numbers that reflect the unstoppable growth of the discipline. The tournament reached 226 million video views on FIBA 3×3’s digital channels, easily surpassing the 160 million from the previous year, and accumulated a total of 242 million impressions. Engagement remained strong, with 8.5 million interactions, showing that interest in this dynamic and street-style format continues to rise.

In addition to its digital success, the tournament also achieved record television expansion, reaching over 200 territories through 26 broadcast partners — three more than in 2023. The event, held in iconic Sukhbaatar Square in Ulaanbaatar, saw sold-out crowds during the elimination rounds and welcomed over 50,000 spectators throughout the week. The enthusiasm of the local audience, together with sponsor activations such as those by Coca-Cola Mongolia, created a vibrant atmosphere that will remain in the memory of fans and players alike.

Mongolia conquers 3×3 on and off the court

The numbers speak for themselves: the 2025 FIBA 3×3 World Cup in Mongolia not only broke records but also solidified the country as a new epicenter for urban basketball. Over 200,000 new followers joined FIBA 3×3‘s official social media accounts during the event, confirming that the tournament not only appealed to traditional audiences but also captured new ones around the world. According to Alex Sánchez, Managing Director of FIBA 3×3, this impact was made possible thanks to the quality of play, the dedication of the athletes, and the passion of the Mongolian crowd, who experienced each day with great intensity.

The event also left a tangible legacy in sports. The medals earned by the women’s teams of Netherlands and Mongolia highlight the rising competitiveness of emerging nations in 3×3, proving that with planning and sustained effort, success is within reach for all. Recognition for this achievement came swiftly: FIBA announced that Ulaanbaatar will once again take center stage on the international calendar, having been confirmed as the host of the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup 2027. With this momentum, Mongolia is establishing itself as a key player in the present and future of 3×3 basketball.
