The International Sports Congress in Africa (CISA) 2025 brought together experts, leaders, and sports professionals in a three-day event that marked a turning point in the planning and development of sports on the African continent. With two days of conferences and one day dedicated to practical workshops, the event featured 36 sessions led by 73 speakers and attracted 400 daily participants, establishing itself as a key space for exchanging ideas and building a more inclusive and sustainable future for sports.

The main goal of CISA 2025 was to address the current challenges in African sports and propose innovative solutions to drive its development. Key topics included digitalization, equity, inclusion, and the professionalization of sports, all with an ethical and sustainable approach.

KEYS TO THE FUTURE OF SPORTS

One of the central points of the congress was the need to accelerate the digitalization of sports. This involves strengthening accessibility and technological adaptation while always ensuring an ethical approach. The collection and use of sports data were also highlighted as essential abilities to improve performance, management, and the fan experience.

Additionally, the importance of ensuring equity and inclusion in sports was emphasized, fully integrating the specific needs of adapted sports for people with disabilities. This approach aims not only to eliminate barriers but also to promote true diversity at all levels of sports.

INFRASTRUCTURE AND INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

The development of modern, local, and sustainable sports infrastructure was another priority topic. These infrastructures must not only be accessible but also adapt to the needs of women to encourage their participation in sports. Furthermore, the importance of structuring sports at the local level and professionalizing players was highlighted to ensure sustainable growth.

National and international cooperation was also a key focus. Proposals included fostering sports tourism and promoting knowledge transfer through a growing calendar of sports events in Africa. These initiatives aim to position the continent as a global reference in the sports sector.

TRAINING AND FUNDING: DRIVING SPORTS GROWTH

CISA 2025 also called for investment in vocational training for young people and the involvement of local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in sports development. This will not only strengthen the local economy but also ensure a more inclusive and diverse sports ecosystem.

Finally, the need to diversify and strengthen funding sources for sports was discussed. This includes both public and private investment, ensuring that resources are used efficiently to support the growth of sports at all levels.

WHAT’S NEXT AFTER CISA 2025?

The event does not end with the conferences and workshops. The organizers have announced several initiatives to follow up on the recommendations presented. These include access to session recordings, the publication of a detailed event report, and the creation of a follow-up committee to ensure the implementation of the proposals.

Additionally, the next edition of CISA is already being planned, promising to continue driving the development of sports in Africa and consolidating the progress achieved in this edition. Without a doubt, CISA 2025 has laid the foundation for a more inclusive, digital, and sustainable future in the sports sector.
